Notes:Maurice [also known as Morice] Regan was secretary and interpreter to Dermot MacMurrough; a fragment relating a history of events in Ireland between 1169 and 1173 was taken down in Norman French verse - an English translation by Sir George Carew is present in The Carew Papers, MS 596-638 in Lambeth Palace Library, London. These papers were collected by Sir George Carew during his period in Ireland as President of Munster for the purpose of writing the history of the island from the reign of Henry II to Elizabeth I. The project was completed by [his natural son], Sir Thomas Stafford in 'Pacata Hibernia', 1633.
